As we have done with St Anton in Austria we have devoted a whole section to this one of our favourite resorts in North America.

Having visited on many occasions and had many happy clients who all enjoy the traditional ambience and friendly nature of what is a ski town where the locals make you feel welcome and they are justifiably proud of this ski area with four great mountains.

Aspen is one of the all time great world class ski destinations. From the glitz and glam of the nightlife and the shopping extravaganza, the town has everything plus four very different ski mountains which have terrain to suit everyone. Aspen Mountain runs into the centre of Aspen town, Highlands is known for it's steep runs, Buttermilk is cool for any novice and Snowmass is the largest area with skiing and riding for all abilities. There is a regular connecting shuttle bus to all the ski areas so Aspen really does offer all the perfect ingredients for a great ski or snowboard holiday.

The Skiing

Beginners

Buttermilk and Snowmass mountains are beginners' and families' heaven - both are forgiving and uncrowded with wide open gentle slopes which make learning to ski fun for everyone

Intermediates

Discover the long cruising runs on Aspen Highlands, starting from the mid-mountain 'Merry Go Round' restaurant. Ajax has a huge range of runs whilst Snowmass has enough trails to exhaust the piste skier.

Advanced

There are challenges in all 4 mountains. Snowmass offers great tree skiing and plenty of off-piste powder, plus some wickedly steep chutes including The Hanging Valley Glades and the Cirque the longest lift served vertical rise in the USA. Aspen boasts a minefield of moguls and offers the most challenging skiing of all.

However the must do of every advanced skier if possible is the classic hike along the ridge to do the "Highland Bowl" what can we say but magnificent and totally memorable. One of those great ski runs to tick off on your top 10 list. Pay a visit after to the excellent "Cloud Nine Bistro" and sample the Austrian style après and a well deserved schnapps.

Snowboarders

Freestyle action is at Snowmass - Pipeline Terrain Park or at Buttermilk - Crazy T'rain, the world’s longest terrain park. The park is 2 miles long and is home to the X-Games competition which occurs every January.

Après Ski

We can personally vouch that Aspen certainly has some of the best après ski in North America so if you like your resort to offer plenty to do in the evenings, look no further.

Snowmass & Buttermilk: Skiing or Snowboarding, Levels 1-4

Specifically designed to meet the needs of beginner-level skiers and snowboarders, Beginner's Magic utilizes a teaching method that promotes peak performance, confidence and mountain awareness. Our fully trained pros will familiarize you with the use and feel of the specialized beginner equipment and how it works with the snow surface. As you progress, you will learn how to use the chairlift and will access more and more of the mountain. Your progress will astonish you… it's guaranteed.

The Beginner's Magic package includes instruction, lift ticket and specialized equipment rental voucher. Day Extensions are available through level 4. Lessons are available every day at Snowmass and Buttermilk. Arrive at the meeting place at 9:45 a.m. with your lift ticket, lesson ticket and equipment.

TWIN CENTRES

Aspen makes a great twin centre combination with either Steamboat or Vail & Beaver Creek in Colorado. We can arrange twin centres with either inter resort transfers or help to arrange this with a self drive option.

TRAVEL OPTIONS

Aspen has its own airport and therefore Aspen/Snowmass is one of the most accessible Rocky Mountain resorts, with hundreds of non-stop and connecting flights weekly into Aspen, Eagle and Denver airports

Tucked neatly into the Roaring Fork Valley, the Aspen airport is just three miles from the town of Aspen and six miles from Snowmass Village.

Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE)
Located just 70 miles from Aspen and Snowmass Village, flights into Eagle are offered on major airlines, permitting one-stop connections from across the globe.

Denver International Airport (DIA)
220 miles from Aspen/Snowmass, visitors can also choose to fly into Denver International (DIA) and then take ground transportation to reach Aspen/Snowmass. More than 400 flights are offered into DIA from over 80 cities on 14 airlines, plus daily non-stop service from London/Gatwick on British Airways and daily non-stop service from Frankfurt on Lufthansa.
