Rauris in Austria
Resort Guide
Rauris is a charming traditional Austrian village situated in Salzburgerland in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National park- the home of Austria's highest mountains. Ideally located, it is a 1.5 hr transfer time from the nearest airport- Salzburg and its neighbours are Kaprun and Zell am See. Rauris is the perfect resort for beginners, but more competent skiers may find it limited.
Accomodation & Après Ski
Rauris is attractive with accomodation found mainly in traditional hotels and guesthouses. It is a good place to bring children- there is a ski school with a special 'ski school fun train' and numerous activities are laid on by the resort. There are a number of good restaurants offering traditional Austrian dishes and a wide choice of bars ranging from the open-air 'umbrella bars' to the cosy cellar bars beneath the gasthofs. There is also the Raurus Schnapps distillery. Curling, night tobogganing and sleigh rides are available and there are several shops and supermarkets.
