The Alps aren't only for skiing........

If you only think of snow, skiing, apres, when you think of the Alps, you could be missing something.

If you think the only time to ski is January or February.....maybe early March if pushed, you could be missing a trick.  If you choose a higher altitude or glacier resort, late season skiing can be fantastic; here are just a few reasons why:-

1) Longer days - if you're used to skiing earlier in the season when the days draw in quickly, you'll enjoy the longer sunshine hours in late season, and longer lift opening hours

2) Lower prices - of all the peak school holiday weeks, Easter is lowest priced with some great bargains to be had.  If you can go late but outside the school holidays, even better

3) Fewer people - less chance of lift queues, meaning you can make the most of the - often - excellent conditions

4) Sun Terraces and music - many resorts take advantage of the sunnier days and move the apres hour outside - Beer, BBQs and dancing........

which brings us around to........

5) Snowbombing - mooted as "The World's No.1 Music Festival on Snow" - a unique blend of skiing or boarding by day, partying by night, in the fantastic resort of Mayrhofen.  This year's Party runs 3 to 8 April

Snowboxx - in Avoriaz, high above Morzine in the amazing Portes du Soleil - 18 to 25 March for this must-see event

Even if you've already skied this season, it seems a long time ago, doesn't it?   With some great offers around, why not break out the Factor 30, swap the big jacket for a softshell and try to squeeze another week in, before the ski gear goes back in the loft.

New Lifts in St Anton

Is the World famous Arlberg ski area about to be even better? In Winter 2016/17 it will become the largest interlinked ski area in Austria! Four new cable cars, about to be constructed, will bridge the gap between St. Anton, the St Christoph side and the Lech, Zurs side completely removing the need for skiers to board a ski bus between the two ski areas. This new ski-link will create complete ski convenience as many of the properties in Born 2 Ski's Arlberg programme offer skiing from the front door.

Famed in Austria as 'the birthplace of skiing', the magnificent Arlberg is one of only a few select ski areas to fully justify a 'world-class' reputation. Renowned for its challenging slopes, both on and off-piste, the area also includes many wonderful miles of picturesque intermediate skiing, from high altitude, snow-sure open bowls to picturesque tree-lined pistes down to the valley. The area has two distinct halves. The first half links St. Anton with its even higher neighbours, St. Christoph and Stuben, and an efficient ski bus service connects this side of the region with the huge network of slopes surrounding Lech and Zürs, including the excellent 'Borderpark' above Lech.

The recently added Auenfeldjet lift which links the ski areas of Lech/Zürs and Warth-Schröcken adds a further 66km of piste as well as numerous deep snow runs to the Arlberg ski area.

You thought you liked St Anton before? Wait until you see it next season.......

Park City Largest Ski Resort in the USA

Born2Ski recommend Park City to our clients as one of favourite US Ski areas and now with the Huge Investment this year Including the new Quicksilver Gondola which will be ready for this upcoming season! ‪

Vail Resorts has linked two of North America’s greatest ski areas – creating the largest resort in the United States with 7,300 acres of skiable terrain. Stay up to date on the progress we're making towards 7,300 acres below.

Proposed 2015 Transformation - 50 Million — Dec. 8, 2014
An 8-passenger, high-speed gondola running from the base of the existing Silverlode Lift at Park City to the Flatiron Lift at Canyons. When conditions allow, gondola passengers will be able to unload at the top of Pine Cone Ridge and ski or ride directly down to Park City's Thaynes Canyon trail via gated ski access.

The Quicksilver Gondola
The eight-passenger, high-speed Quicksilver Gondola will run from the base of Silverlode Lift to the Flatiron Lift. When conditions allow, gondola passengers will be able to unload at the top of Pinecone Ridge and ski or ride directly down Thaynes Canyon trail. The Quicksilver Gondola connection will create the single largest ski resort in the United States.

Upgrades to Park City's King Con and Motherlode Lifts
King Con will be upgraded from a 4-person to 6-person high-speed detachable chair, meaning increased lift capacity. Motherlode will switch from a fixed-grip triple to a 4-person high-speed detachable, similarly improving the number of guests it can carry.

New Miners Camp Restaurant, Summit House Upgrade and Red Pine Lodge Expansion
A new Miners Camp Restaurant will replace the former Snow Hut restaurant to include 500 indoor seats and a state of the art kitchen. Miners Camp will be located next to the base of the Silverlode Lift and the Quicksilver Gondola terminal. Meanwhile, upgrades to Summit House will improve the flow of diners and increase seating. On the other side of the mountain, Red Pine Lodge will be renovated to the tune of 250 more indoor seats.
