Valloire in France Resort Guide

This very French resort area developed from a small farming community of the 1930's and has branched out across the Maurienne Valley. A wide variety of terrain is on offer and this helps make the area a popular family destination. Valloire has twin stations at 1500 and 1800 and retains a rustic village charm and remains excellent value. The pistes are spread over three equal sized wooded valleys. It is regarded as a mainly intermediate area. The lower village nursery areas are vulnerable when the temperatures rise. Otherwise there are good nursery areas higher up, but this requires a full area lift pass. The snow reliability can be good, but Valloire's Achilles heel is the links which become quite threadbare quickly because they are low and prone to be sun traps.
